I can't believe how long it's been since I last updated.   I guess I can't make any more promises.

We'll here's a great statement from today's "My Utmost for His Highest."

"When once you realize all that it cost God to forgive you, you will be held as in a vice,
constrained by the love of God."

Wouldn't that be an awesome picture?  Our hearts broken by the realization of God's great sacrifice for us, Jesus Christ, we cling to God with all our strength, but in reality, our strength is only made possible because of His grip on us.

1 John 4:19 "We love him, because he first loved us. "

Operation Christmas Child

CHRISTMAS SHOE BOXES

Thanks Erinn & Caitlin for organizing this project.

Remember to start bringing items for your Small Groups shoe boxes.

Here's a couple of times we could go Dollar Store Shopping together.

This Friday  (10-20-06) at 6pm before the Guys & Girls nights out.

Wednesday (10-25-26) at 5pm before youth group.

I'll be at the church with the bus for everyone who wants to go.

Remember to be praying for the children who will receive the boxes.

Here's a thought from God's Word.  1 Peter 3:8-9 tells us that God wants us to be humble and kind.  Now notice the way that God tells us to practice humility.  Do not do wrong to repay wrong, and do not insult to repay insult.  Wow!  It's true, isn't it?  The reason we retaliate against others is because we aren't willing to humble ourselves and demonstrate the love of Christ.  Let's change that pattern in our lives beginning today.  Remember that God didn't place his Holy Spirit in is so we could walk in the old ways but in the newness of life!

Live for Jesus today - Because it Matters!

Pumpkin Christians

This was sent to me from Adora Trostle.  I know you'll all like it.

Being a Christian is like being a pumpkin.  God lifts you up, takes you in, and washes all the dirt off of you.
He opens you up, touches you deep inside and scoops out all the yucky stuff-- including the seeds of doubt,
hate, greed, etc.
Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His Light inside you to shine for all the world to see.

This was passed on to me from another pumpkin.
Now, it is your turn to pass it to a pumpkin
.
I Liked this enough to send it to all the pumpkins in my patch.

Happy Fall!

Don't forget the 5th Quarter Tonight.  9:30-11:45 p.m.

It's at our home.  Call if you need directions.

Alan & Eileen Steele from Cedar Lake

Sunday night,  October 8,  Alan & Eileen (Cedar Lake) will be sharing in the evening service.  After the service they will meet with the teens and college age for a short time downstairs.  Their daughter Abbey is attending New Tribes and they need to be back in Jackson by 10pm. Yes- there will be snacks!

Be sure to come and say hi to them.  We'll see them again on the Spring Break Trip to Tennessee.

I was reading about how some believers think it’s ok to do so little for Christ and just Get By, By The Skin OF Their Teeth.”  Here’s a couple of verses that expose that mentality as unbiblical.

2 Corinthians 8:1-3,5

Moreover, brethren, we make known to you the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia: that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded in the riches of their liberality. For I bear witness that according to their ability, yes, and beyond their ability, they were freely willing…

Did you catch the circumstances in which they were living? Great trial of affliction…and deep poverty…  Wow!  How could believers give financially beyond their ability when they are persecuted and poor?  The answer is found in verse 5 where it tells us that they first gave themselves to the Lord.

Have you done that yet today? Have you commited your day to Christ?  If we don't begin with each day, how will we ever be able to commit our lives?

"Getting by by the skin of one’s teeth is not a biblical attitude, in fact, it is an anti-biblical attitude. When God created man He made him a creature of choice and God is glorified when we choose to serve, not when we feel constrained to do so. And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.  (Colossians 3.23)."

Who are you going to live for today?  You behavior will clearly shout your choice.  Make that Choice Jesus – Because it Matters!
